Free Practice vs Downloadable Past Papers
Free O-Level papers circulate widely online as PDFs, and they have real value — but they share one limitation. Someone has to mark them. In practice the student marks their own work against an answer key, sees a matching final answer, and moves on.
This misses most of what an O-Level marking scheme actually rewards. Method marks for valid working, precise syllabus terminology in Biology and Chemistry explanations, correct units and significant figures in Physics calculations — a student comparing final answers will award themselves marks a real examiner would not, and will also miss method marks they genuinely earned on questions they got wrong.

Parent Guide: Supporting Revision at Home
The single most useful thing a parent can do with a practice result is resist reacting to the score. A low score early in Secondary 4 is normal and expected — much of the syllabus has not been taught. Ask instead which topics came up weak and what the plan is for the weakest one. This shifts the conversation from performance to process, and gives the student something actionable.
